The American Academy of Paediatrics recommends 4001.U. of Vitamin D3 daily intake for 1 to 18-year-old. To obtain the recommended amount of Vitamin D3, your child needs to drink 4 cups of milk or eat six ounces of tuna. It will be a tough job for parents to push their children to intake the appropriate amount of vitamin D3 from daily meals.

It is possible that this recommendation will be changed to even higher doses, but not more than 4000I.U. per day (total from food and supplement).
