Glucosamine Sulfate

Glucosamine Sulfate is a natural sugar produced by the body and found in certain foods. It plays an important role in the production, maintenance and repair of cartilage, the white smooth rubber-like padding that covers the ends of bones and prevents them rubbing against each other painfully as we move. Glucosamine Sulfate stimulates chondrocyte cartilage production as well as synoviocyte synovial fluid procuction. In most cases, the joints produce sufficient Glucosamine Sulfate to keep the cartilage in good repair, but if they fail to do so, it dries out, degenerates, cracks and may even completely wear away. Left unprotected, the joints then become swollwn, stiff, inflamed, tender and painful - the condition known as osteoarthritis.

Effects of pain relief by Glucosamine Sulfate may not be experienced for 6 -8 weeks, with full benefit not evident for several months.

Chondroitin Sulfate

Chondroitin Sulfate is a glucosaminoglycan made from glucuronic acid and galactosamine present in animal cartilage. As a dietary supplement, Chondroitin Sulfate is often combined with other supplement in products for osteoarthritis and joint health. Supplementation with Chondroitin Sulfate seems to confer chondropro-tection through its inhibitory action on some of the enzymes that damage cartilage. Chondroitin Sulfate serves as building material for cartilage production. Chondroitin Sulfate may also stimulate chondrocytes to produce more cartilage components. Chondroitin Sulfate is found in human cartilage, bone, cornea, skin and arterial wall. Chondroitin Sulfate is vital for the structure and function of articular cartilage.
